SHOCKING: California Mayor’s Secret Ties to China!

United States flag merged with China flag.

A California mayor has admitted to secretly serving as an illegal agent for the Chinese Communist Party, exposing deep foreign infiltration in American local politics.

Story Snapshot

  • Arcadia Mayor Eileen Wang, 58, agreed to plead guilty to acting as an unregistered agent for the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
  • Wang resigned Monday, citing personal reasons while facing up to 10 years in federal prison.[1][2]
  • She operated U.S. News Center with her fiancé, Yaoning “Mike” Sun, posting PRC-directed propaganda from 2020 to 2022.
  • Sun serves a four-year sentence for the same crime, highlighting a pattern of PRC influence operations.
  • Federal prosecutors uncovered directives via WeChat, including denial of Xinjiang genocide claims.

Wang’s Guilty Plea and Resignation

Federal prosecutors in the Central District of California charged Eileen Wang on April 2026 with one count of acting in the United States as an illegal agent of a foreign government. Wang, Arcadia’s mayor since November 2022, entered a plea agreement admitting the felony.[3] She faces a maximum 10-year prison sentence. Wang appeared in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on May 11, 2026, where the judge set a formal plea date.[1] Her resignation letter to city leaders described the departure as personal, omitting the charges.[2]

Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Elbogen stated Wang worked directly for PRC officials, executing their orders without notifying the U.S. Attorney General as required by law.[2] This violation under 18 U.S.C. § 951 underscores failures in foreign agent oversight.

Activities Promoting PRC Propaganda

From late 2020 through 2022, Wang and Yaoning “Mike” Sun, her fiancé, ran U.S. News Center, a website targeting the local Chinese American community. They received directives from PRC officials via WeChat to post pro-PRC content. In June 2021, a PRC official sent pre-written articles denying genocide and forced labor in Xinjiang. Wang disseminated these without disclosure.[3]

In November 2021, Wang coordinated with John Chen, a high-level PRC intelligence figure who met President Xi Jinping. Chen provided praise and further instructions.[2] Wang responded submissively, calling officials “leader.”[2] The site concealed its ties to Beijing, deceiving readers.

Connections to Convicted PRC Agent

Yaoning “Mike” Sun pleaded guilty in October 2025 to the same charge and began a four-year federal prison sentence. Sun and Wang collaborated closely on U.S. News Center, promoting PRC interests. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Assistant Director Roman Rozhavsky noted Wang “secretly served the interests of the Chinese government.” This case reveals PRC “united front” tactics targeting diaspora communities.

Activities occurred before Wang’s election, involving no city resources or policy influence, per Arcadia officials.[1] Still, her elected role amplified concerns over foreign loyalty in local government. FBI data shows over 2,000 PRC-related counterintelligence probes since 2018, with rising convictions. Under President Trump’s second term, such prosecutions strengthen defenses against Communist infiltration, protecting American sovereignty and communities from Beijing’s reach.
